The Emerging Scholars Colloquium is a one-day event (July 6, 2014) which precedes the main conference. The Colloquium provides doctoral students, new faculty and emerging researchers with the opportunity to discuss their research with established scholars in the field.
The Colloquium will consist of two parts. The first part will be spent engaging in a group discussion of issues such as:
What is critical research? What is a critical scholar?
What are the main challenges and opportunities for critical research? What are the main threats to the critical researcher’s identity?
Etc.
The second part involves participants discussing their research with peers and established scholars, in a small-group format.
The Colloquium is organized by Yves Gendron (Université Laval) and brings together a team of four scholars:

Participation
Doctoral students, new faculty and emerging researchers should send a CV and a 2-page document in which they outline their PhD research project. Documents should be sent to Yves Gendron (
yves.gendron@criticalperspectivesonaccounting.com
) before February 15, 2014. Notification of acceptance will be given by February 28, 2014.
It should be noted that preference will be given to doctoral students in the final years of their PhD. The number of participants will be limited to 16.
Accepted participants will have to send a research paper for which they would like to get input from one of the established scholars. Papers should normally be within the range of 8,000 to 15,000 words, including tables and references. Papers need to be sent before June 1st, 2014 to Yves Gendron at (

Fees
Emerging Scholars Colloquium: $150 (including one lunch).
Doctoral students accepted for the Emerging Scholars Colloquium who wish to attend the main conference, can do so for a reduced conference fee of $250. Please remember to register for the main conference, if you plan to attend. (All participants will have to pay for the gala dinner as an optional add-on to conference registration).
